What Makes Hagetae #BulldogSTRONG: In four years as a Bulldog, Senior Hagetae Garcia has committed herself to the SERVICE of her peers in her involvement in student leadership at Golden Valley High School. As a Freshman, Hagetae was elected to Freshman Class President, a position that has been her favorite because it was the genesis of her leadership experience at Golden Valley. “As Freshman Class President, I started getting immersed into ASB,” comments Hagetae, “The seniors from that year were also fun to be around and they taught me a lot about SERVICE, especially from behind-the-scenes.” With the positive experience she had as a freshman, Hagetae wanted a holistic approach to student leadership and for the next two years, she was elected to two different leadership positions, gaining unique insight and perspective along the way. As a Sophomore, Hagetae was elected as Sophomore Class Treasurer allowing her to see the financial aspect of student leadership. As a Junior, Hagetae was elected as ASB Commissioner of Cultural Affairs falling in line with the #BulldogSTRONG expectation of acknowledging and respecting differences. “My goal as a student leader at Golden Valley is to work with others,” passionately states Hagetae, “And to listen to student opinions so that they have the best high school experience and can have good memories to reflect on.”

At the end of her junior year, Hagetae was elected to the prestigious position of ASB President, but with school closure due to Covid-19, she and others members of the Golden Valley Student Leadership team were forced to adjust to a virtual environment. “Students should know that students in ASB are constantly in Zoom meetings talking about events and activities that we can do,” states Hagetae, “Our role is pretty much the same, but we just try to think even more outside of the box now in this new era of life behind a screen.” With that, Hagetae is leading student leaders through the difficulties of distance learning with optimism, hope, and a desire to make lasting memories for the students at Golden Valley High School. “I hope to collaborate with my fellow leadership students to make this another memorable year for all students, even in distance learning.” For her commitment to student leadership at Golden Valley High School and in her courageous optimism in distance learning as our ASB President, Hagetae Garcia is #BulldogSTRONG.
Though campus is empty because of Covid-19, ASB President Hagetae Garcia looks to lead the Golden Valley student body in distance learning.
What #BulldogSTRONG Means to Hagetae: "To me, #BulldogSTRONG means to always do your part whether that is keeping a clean environment at school, helping others who are in need or just staying positive.”
