What Makes Fatima #BulldogSTRONG: Among the key elements of being #BulldogSTRONG are the following: 1. Demonstrating GROWTH by always giving 100% in the classroom. 2. Showing PRIDE by promoting a positive self-image. 3. Genuinely caring about SERVICE to others by treating everyone with kindness. For her part, Fatima Garcia is the very essence of what it means to be #BulldogSTRONG. Academically, Fatima gives her best effort in the classroom as she has been able to accumulate a 3.793 GPA after her first two years as a Bulldog, primarily enrolled in GATE and honors classes. Fatima took efforts to enhance her math skills by joining the Math Club so that she can work through grind and struggle of mathematics demonstrating the GROWTH aspect of being #BulldogSTRONG. Fatima demonstrates PRIDE as she enveloped herself in the culture at Golden Valley High School. Fatima has played two years of volleyball at Golden Valley High School with one of those years on varsity.

Fatima Volleyball Fatima Garcia was solid presence for the Lady Bulldogs last season on the volleyball team.

Fatima has also committed herself to two years of soccer, playing a stabilizing role for the Lady Bulldogs on the pitch. In addition to her athletic participation as a Lady Bulldog, Fatima has committed herself to SERVICE in various leadership positions in her time at Golden Valley High School. In her sophomore year, Fatima was the Sophomore Class Vice President and took an active role in helping second year Bulldogs to become more actively involved in school culture. This past Spring, Fatima was elected as the Associated Student Body (ASB) Commissioner of Project Services. Part of her duties include fostering campus wide efforts at community service around Kern County as well as the simple duties of picking up trash around campus to keep Golden Valley High School beautiful. Furthermore, Fatima wants to encourage more SERVICE level jobs for students to take at events like football games in order to create lasting experiences and memories for the entire student body. For her commitment to leadership and SERVICE of Golden Valley High School, Fatima was selected to attend the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Youth Conference at Cal Lutheran University this past summer - 1 of 2 sophomores chosen for this wonderful experience. At the conference, Fatima was part of a group of students that made and distributed blankets to the homeless. Beyond the laundry list of accolades and accomplishments that makes her #BulldogSTRONG, perhaps Fatima’s greatest asset to Golden Valley High School is that she genuinely treats everyone she meets with the utmost kindness. Armed with an infectious smile, Fatima does her part to make sure that everyone she meets is met with respect and optimism. We are proud to spotlight Fatima Garcia as she is #BulldogSTRONG.

"Fatima is a joy to be around and an asset to the GV Leadership program. She is sweet, funny, and caring. The combination of those aforementioned attributes along with her dedication to being a student leader on our campus makes her #BulldogSTRONG in the areas of Growth, Pride, Service!" - Valerie Black, Activities Director, Golden Valley High School

"What an awesome choice for the #BulldogSTRONG Student Spotlight! Fatima is bright, kind, focused, smart- those are just a few of the words that immediately spring to mind regarding Fatima. In class, she was the first to welcome new students, she celebrated her classmates’ successes and was always jumping in to help others.  She’s a fantastic example of SERVICE and altogether #BulldogSTRONG!" - Lana King, English Department Chair, Golden Valley High School

"I had the privilege to have Fátima in my Earth Science class her freshman year and she was the embodiment of Bulldog Strong: she was intellectually curious, a hard worker, and a team player. She always came to class eager to learn, to fully participate, and to ask questions. She was also enthusiastic about all school activities and sports, in addition to academics. I hear she is an amazing soccer player. On the other hand, I also know her to be a polite and cheerful young lady, always with a smile on her face; she always treated her peers and teachers with respect and was always willing to be of service. I have no doubt she will be successful in whatever endeavor she chooses to pursue. " - Roberto Rodriguez, Earth and Space Science Teacher, Golden Valley High School

“Fatima exemplified #BulldogSTRONG in every aspect as a student in my World History class.  She possessed a cheerful disposition and positive attitude on a daily basis throughout the entire school year.  Fatima was a self-starter and served as a role model for other students in my class. She epitomized the type of student teachers dream of having in their class: a great attitude / dedicated work-ethic / positive role model / all-around great kid.  In my many years as a teacher, Fatima ranks at the top of the list as the type of student that makes being a teacher so rewarding and fulfilling.” Ed Crosby, World History Teacher and Varsity Girls Tennis Coach, Golden Valley High School
